Winter Thunder is a true endurance test spanning 101km in the middle of winter across a snow fed lake. Last year the temperature gauge at scrutineering read -3 degrees challenging competitors to deal with frozen bow ropes, frozen air valves and frozen bodies. This year we hope for rain and rough water on the lake to really challenge competitors. Now that I have talked it up its time to get your entry forms in and get training. Last year the time to beat was set by winners Demon Energy Black just beating 02Move after they got a bit sidetracked.

Thanks to Taupo councils support for the event we are able to offer entry fees at only $40 per boat, down from $100 last year for crews who enter before 19 July 2010. Entry fee after this date will be $60. There will be an after race function in town as per last year. The race and party was great fun in 2009 for those that were brave enough to take it on, it would be great to see a big turnout for 2010.
